Cretaceous Water

Image
Do you want to taste 35000000 ( Thirty five Million) years old water? The one with such strange wish will not be consider drunken. Scientist have just made it possible by finding an old reservoir of water that dates back to Cretaceous age nearly some 35000000 years old. Amazing discovery. Swimming Reptiles may be gone, but waters of their ocean remains! Thirty-five million years ago, that’s the Eocene to you, an asteroid or comet hit the earth making a 137 km diameter hole which now makes up a lot of Chesapeake Bay. This in itself is an earth event of spectacular importance. Ejecta was sent everywhere, tsunamis pounded the Blue Ridge Mountains, extinction was rampant among marine creatures and land mammals. But… While fracturing 11 km depth of bedrock, the impact event managed to seal off an old reservoir of sea water, preserving it much like an ancient bug in amber. Again, this is nice, but… But… studies of the salty water found at a depth today of 1km by the USGS deduce that thi

The very first time I heard Persian song few years back in my friends wedding concert, i fell in sever love with this language, Persian is a very poetic, soft and song-like language and has been described as one of the most beautiful languages of the world, though Persian is to some minor extent being thought here in Pakistan and being spoken here, but still not familiar to be speak by everyone. Apart from all this it makes you feel happy and energetic when it comes to Persian being sung by Fareed Ayaz renowned for his Qawali. Surfing through a Vimeo a week ago i found this song of Fareed Ayaz and Abu Muhammad sung in Coke studio session 5. A week has passed since i heard this song very first time, but not a single day has passed in the entire week that i missed watching this clip of him. Khabaram raseed imshab ki nigaar khuahi aamad; Sar-e man fidaa-e raah-e ki sawaar khuahi aamad. Ham-e aahwan-e sehra sar-e khud nihada bar kaf; Ba-umeed aanki rozi bashikaar khuahi aamad

Sectarian Killings in Quetta

Image
I have spent 22 years of my life in Quetta, with a single escape of 5 days trip out of city to Lahore back in 2009. In fact spending the rest of my life here has grown a love for this city in my heart, and the demand of this love is to appreciate all those who work for the betterment of this city in any way and discourage all those who add hatred in any way to this city.  When I start separating unpleasant things related to this city out of my memories it comes with the Emal Kasi hand overing to America and receiving his corpse back, and then the role back of Taliban government in Afghanistan deeply impacted city that triggered violence in city, proceed by the Nawab Akbar Bugti murder by Musharaf lead govt, proceed then by the abducting of Baluchs by the same government, and now the biggest threat to the city is sectarian killings by Lashkar-e-Jhangvi terrorists.   Innocent Hazaras are though their first Victim but Lashker-e-Jhangvi's latest activities are against Va

A Friday Outing

Image
One seriously needs an outing after a busy week of working. I was thinking about a Friday outing since summer has started. finally a week before election this wish came true . Mangala, Shayla killi or Sra Ghurghi, an area having three different names is quickly getting famous as weekend picnic point near Quetta city. Hanna Lake and Hanna Orak valley is relatively an old and much crowded picnic points of Quetta city, but Mangala or Shayla killi or Sra Ghurghi will share the crowds of these two much crowded points of city. Seasonal red flowers of Mangala.           Unlike Hanna Lake and Hanna Orak the Mangala has large area with a stream of Fresh water, flowing through the mountains, a grassy plain and a water filled Dam near the main entrance of the area. Dam near the main entrance The security situation isn't ideal through out Baluchistan, but one feel safe due to proper checking of vehicles since the security check post has been built at the main entrance.

Friday Rain

Its raining here In Quetta again, snow on mountains peaks, fragile weather, The weather is only reason of not making any Friday outing. The rapid decrease in temperature is another indication that predicting Quetta City weather isn't Kid's stuff.
